For patients aged 60 and older with knee osteoarthritis who are basic livelihood recipients, near-poverty households, or eligible under the Single-Parent Family Support Act, this covers the patient's out-of-pocket share of examination, treatment, and surgery costs, up to 1.2 million won per knee (2.4 million won for both). Seniors who have put off surgery for financial reasons can submit documents to a public health center before surgery, and the Korea Elderly Medical Sharing Foundation selects and supports recipients. Many eligible seniors give up on surgery simply because they don't know this program exists.
